BLUE LIVELIHOODS PROGRAM (COMMUNITY RESILIENCE
HOME > OUR CAMPAIGN > COMMUNITY RESILIENCE
At Sayari Blue Initiative (SBI), we empower coastal communities to strengthen their climate resilience by integrating sustainable blue practices into their livelihoods and marine-based production systems. Through community-led approaches and nature-based enterprises, we help coastal populations adapt to climate change, safeguard marine ecosystems, and create long-term economic opportunities.
Our focus areas — mangrove restoration, coral rehabilitation, and Locally Managed Marine Areas (LMMAs) — aim to enhance coastal protection, improve biodiversity, and sustain blue livelihoods while promoting environmental stewardship and local economic development.

SBI’s community resilience initiatives focus on empowering coastal and marine-dependent communities to achieve a triple bottom-line impact of People, Planet, and Prosperity. We integrate blue economy principles and sustainable livelihood practices to strengthen adaptive capacity, diversify income sources, and enhance social and ecological resilience.
Through initiatives like mariculture learning gardens, sustainable fishing practices, and coastal enterprise development, we support communities to build climate-smart livelihoods that protect ocean ecosystems while securing their economic future.
Our Key Community Resilience Programs
Mangrove Restoration & Blue Carbon Enterprises
Supporting communities to restore mangrove forests while generating income through eco-friendly blue carbon initiatives, sustainable beekeeping, and mangrove ecotourism.
Coral Reef Rehabilitation & Marine Stewardship
Working with local fishers and youth groups to rehabilitate coral reefs, establish sustainable fishing zones, and strengthen marine governance through LMMAs.
Blue Livelihoods & Ocean Entrepreneurship
Building capacity in seaweed farming, eco-tourism, and sustainable aquaculture to diversify community income and reduce pressure on marine ecosystems.
By transforming coastal and marine-based livelihoods into sustainable blue enterprises, we aim to:
Enhance food security and ocean-based nutrition
Promote marine and coastal stewardship
Advance climate adaptation and resilience
Drive inclusive blue economic growth at the grassroots level
Through collaborations with our partners and coastal communities, we have:
Restored over 12,000 coral fragments across degraded reef ecosystems, supporting marine biodiversity recovery.
Trained 2,500 coastal youth and fishers in sustainable mariculture and blue livelihood enterprises.
Supported 3,800 coastal households in adopting climate-smart practices that strengthen food security and resilience.
Established 25 community-managed marine areas (LMMAs) promoting ocean stewardship and inclusive conservation.
Planted over 120,000 mangroves, protecting shorelines and boosting carbon sequestration in blue carbon ecosystems.
